We finally got the boat hauled out and took a look at what was going on. There was no brass pipe nor turning ball, just the tube with the cable running down it. We discovered a crack along the trunk also. We ordered the turning ball kit from CD and obtained a 1.24 “ X 6” brass pipe from the local plumbing store. We drilled a hole about half way up the brass pipe for the turning ball and pin. The pipe screwed into the hull perfectly. We fiber glassed the bottom third of the brass pipe to the hull and fixed the crack. I had to cut about 8” inches off the rubber hose to make it fit under the winch. One clamp went below the turning ball and other one above it. Put the winch and stairs together and it was done. I took the boat out for a short sail, there was some groaning from cable adjusting to the weight of the keel, and other than me bumping the bottom, and everything seemed to work fine. I've got some pictures to post but could not figure out how to do it. Thank you for all the help and info.
