Does anyone know where I can purchase the accordian door that closes the area between the head and main cabin? Or has anyone got any other solutions for closing this area off so someone can use the head?
I tired install a modified accordian door that I bought at home-depot, but it just got messy because of the curved cabin top and I quit. I was thinking of using a curtain, but it seems like the door would be more private.
We have taken the hardware from our original door, removed the wood slats and replaced them with a beach towel. Works great and looks pretty good. Just find the best suited towel design for your boat, and readjust the towel size on a sewing machine.
I curtain can be more private, it can hang to the floor so the lady's ankles with her pants around them do not show. A curtain also makes the door wider.
IMHO, that thin accordian is no more private than fabric... I'd get rid of the infamous "head knocker" (header and track) and rig a curtain. I could hardly count the number of lumps on my head from that thing!
Dave, I wish mine looked like that! That is actually a wide angle view of the dinette in "Not Yet". You can see other views of that interior in the C25 Tech Tips

We reused the folding door track hardware and sewed it into a new sharky curtain closer. We also attached the solid vertical piece that has the snap latch into the vertical edge of the curtain in order to maintain the existing latching and closing strap. The fixed vertical side of the curtain was attached to the post the same way the original folding door was attached. In other words, we reused all of the original attachment hardware and only replaced the actual panel with new curtain fabric.
We have a curtain as well. It has a track that snaps in that I accidentally knock down all the time. I definitely want to get a new pattern up, maybe a solid royal blue.

Where are you located? <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> Do you have any pictures of the solid door?
I'm located in New Orleans and may be interested, you can contact me at kzarwell@hotmail dot com
Thanks for the pictures and info everyone. That makes a lot of sense to have a header! A solid door seems like great idea and the most private, maybe I can figure something out.

LOL, I'm 6'5" and hit my head on everything anyway! Not to mention that every time I work on my boat, my back tells me it wants a bigger boat.
I'm 6'-1" and do not ever remember banging my head on the header. I have to duck whenever I am in the cabin so it is not an issue. My wife however is 5'-3" and can stand up. She hits her head every time she goes through the door.
WIll try and get a pictures this weekend (both solid door and removed catalina header and accordion door). Had the same setup on my C-30 and hit my head every time. I always threaten to take the sledge hammer to it, but my wife always stopped me.

Here's another tip. You can use short, descriptive titles for URLs by using the "prompt" Format Mode that is available on each posting pane. Set the Format Mode to "prompt" and then click on the URL icon. It will then ask you for a title and then the URL.
