C-25 Observer, anonymous, hidden nameless behind the cloak of anonymity while Frank Hopper stands named as friend, contributor, past commodore, technical editor, dues paid member and mostly, as a person we wish to hear from.
C-25 Observer, may you wallow in anonymity and your own shallows.
Been out of town all week and infrequently able to access the internet. The Forum withdrawal symptoms were terrible, but I'm recovering now that I'm back home, hehe! Terry, welcome to the Association and the Forum. This is a great bunch of people, and I know that you will feel right at home here very soon. From all of the pics I've seen, you have bought a super boat. Congratulations.
Y'awl have said it all. Frank is gentleman, and has contributed much to the Association. When I served as Commodore, Frank served as Secretary and was a valuable contributor to the work of the Association. Then Frank moved to Vice Commodore and on to Commodore. During my association with the Association, I've found a very capable and knowledgable man. But why do I have say this to a group of friends and family who already know it and already have said it? I don't, I wanted to say some words because Frank's valuable service to the Association has helped keep the Association what it is. Enjoy the Hobie Frank. God bless you as you move on.
SO, does that mean that we know who this genius is?
sten
There is a benefit to the existence of the observer... he provides us with valuable links to our Association Pages, to Franks Website (a great wealth of info there!) and to the Mainsheet magazine website.
Those links enhance our website position in the search engines.
Implicitly the observer severs his own halyards, reminding us that the Mainsheet is a quarterly magazine, but the forum is a constant source of info that most likely would never get into the mainsheet and it's value is increased because of the speed of delivery. The recent article on sail slugs may well prevent undesirable grief just because it was posted and some readers will go out and check their slugs now rather than after the delivery of the next mainsheet.
Frank, your experiences are a valuable resource, your virtual friendship is is another. Please hang around !
...Those links enhance our website position in the search engines...
Very good point!
Now, in case he's still skulking out there, I'm going to say this: Observer, the comment about the cockpit says all anybody here needs to know about you. Neither I nor the others who know the history need to add a single thing.
SO, I find offense to his politically motivated post - now that Frank has moved on, who do we call? Hey one of my posts was removed for simply posting a radio transmission between my vessel and a 25 footer operated by a recent Vet who complained about our government and its stake in desert countries with oil. Too many bodies, so little time.
And the whole argument about increasing google rank is bogus... Really, google C25 or catalina 25 and you'll easily see the ranking... Numero uno.. Heck, SeaTow threatened to sue me for a post on this site in less than 12 hours from the original post. Observer is an ass and should be deleted. Will the next Frank Hopper please stand up and use the delete button? If I can be deleted for offending someone somewhere, this is before we as a country decided that the war was completely stupid, can't we delete Observer and let him talk about it in his own space where no one will listen?
I cant say that I know about the associations history. Im not even a member(cant find a stamp) But some of the things he says make sense (although rudely) Why are not all members included in Officer Elections? And why dont we even see pictures of the nationals on the site. Maybe we should take his comments as constructive criticism, and use them to make the association better. Who was it who said to "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."
With that said I think his comments were uncalled for, and his blog is childish. Every thing Frank has said has been thoughtful and knowledgeable, in my experience. So please dont take anything Ive said as an insult, as that isnt how it was meant.
Kendall, you are wise beyond your years. This guy does have a history here... On the one hand he once served the association well as a tech editor for Mainsheet, but on the other hand he has done some things I won't even go into except to say his blog demonstrates in white-and-blue how he relates to and deals with people in charge of (probably) just about anything. You've apparently deduced that.
After trying not to engage, I got a note in my mailbox. I'll respond more openly.
If you have a point, make it. If not, don't clog my mailbox.
I still can't understand why a guy that has such disdain for something expends so much energy on it. If you don't like the forum, then leave it alone. If you don't like the Association as it has evolved, then leave it. Face the fact that it has evolved. Good, bad or indifferent, it has evolved. Your periodic rants will not change the evolution that has occurred. Your personal attacks are just childish and rude.
Dave Bristle was, in fact, trying to say something nice about you. He was trying to acknowledge your contributions. You attacked him because he made a title error.
