I liked my Bruce so much I got a mini-version for the dingy. In fact, it's on the coffee table right now awaiting a rope/chain splice. Actually, it looks kinda good there.....!

Hmmmm ... I take it the Admiral hasn't seen it sitting on the coffee table yet, or you're a bachelor ...

I get confused between the "bruce" and the "claw" ... which is which (or are they the same), and which is the better all-around anchor?

the Admiral hasn't seen it sitting on the coffee table yet

Well, as soon as she gets that splice done, she can stow it anywhere she wants.....

No, there's no admiral. Just an ex-admiral

The "Bruce" is the original claw, and there are several look-alikes out there that look identical. Seems like that would be some kind of patent infringement, but it seems pretty common among anchor mfgs., and others.

>"Seems like that would be some kind of patent infringement..."

I believe the original patent expired a couple years ago, hence the appearance of all the 'knock-offs'. To reinforce this impression, the Bruce anchors no longer have 'Patented' in the main shank casting, but rather have the registered 'Bruce' trademark. (as stated on their site)

Did you get the 16.5 lb. or the 22 lb.? The 16.5 knock-off @ WM is $54.99 in the catalog. That's what I have stored on a BRM-2 bow roller. They both work great.
