The Admiral and I are moving up to a 86 C30 that we found in Kemah, TX. "Janler" (previously known as "Manana")hull # 4455.
Moon Chaser Has sold. I delivered her to her new owners 1/2 way in Tucson AZ. (1800 miles round trip from Austin Texas) The new home is Lake Tahoe....A mighty fine place and Moon Chaser will love it!
Here is a pic of her in Tucson at the bank of America where we completed the transaction:

I will convince the new owners to join this invaluable site and I want to thank every one of you for helping me to learn how to sail, upgrade, maintaine, and improve my BS quotient. We are embarking on part 2 of the "PLAN"...If all goes well we will sell our new boat in 4 years and move to the coast to get just a little bigger and go just a little farther. So cruising is more important now and racing a little less,
We appreciate this great site and its wonderful participants,
Happy Sailing,
Steve

Steve, double congrats, the C30 was my boat of choice also, ah but the one bridge I must go under to get home can only handle mast heights to 38 feet so until I can talk the General into moving I am stuck with the C250. Now thats not all bad we are really starting to enjoy PennyII. Good luck and don't be a stranger to your favorite forum.

Yes Derek, I understand about the TR, but this one may be our first coastal boat as well so the standard rig is the way we plan to go since . This boat has a brand new engine (45 hours), 1 year old sails & all new instruments. The Admiral likes it,
Steve

When you're ready to cut the docklines and go cruising, I think it would be very easy to get your C30 transported over to San Carlos. (on the Sea of Cortez) a true Cruiser's paradise with enough places to visit to keep you occupied for a decade.

A C30 would be 'all the boat' you'd need for that venue.

Of course, you could head east and hit Florida and the Carribean too.

Congratulations, Steve!

I know the new owner got a great boat, and "Moon Chaser" is going to be one happy girl on Lake Tahoe.

I'm a bit confused ... are you going to move your new C-30 to Canyon Lake, or will you keep her on the coast? I hope you're still going to hang around the lake ... the yacht club won't be the same without y'all!

Don't be a stranger to the Forum ... we'd miss your comments!

Thank you guys for all your kind comments!
Buzz,
Canyon Lake is the planned destination but we did find a very cool Marina at Lake Travis that is only 15 minutes from the admirals work and just 30 minutes from our home...Commanders Point. It is all Sail boats so we are considering sailing Lake Travis for a few years. Big Decision...

Used to own one (pre child #1), Admiral says it was perfect, for the two of us. She now wants separate cages for each kid plus the two of us...think 42. Unfortunately even the very early 42's (89) are still trading for serious coin.....occasionally one slips through the cracks.....I hope to be there to catch it. Either that or a B------

Oscar...yep a 42 no matter what year or make could be some serious coin, think maintainence....but that does not matter when you need space for the kids
Here is a pic of our future C30:

Nice lookin' boat Steve!

As for the coinage on the 42, I took a quick peak over at Yachtworld and comparing 1990 models it appears that for the asking price of the C42 you can buy two C34's, three C30's,...or 44 North Stars!

Hey Don,
How much would a new Mainsail cost for that 42?

Have a greatb time with it Steve. Wish I had the water for a C 30. Not that I would get one, but wish I had the H20 anyway.

Things are getting serious......Kemah Texas, Yesterday Branford CT, Portsmouth and Bristol RI. Monday: Tampa, Fort Meyers, Tuesday: Fort Lauderdale, Cape Canaveral. Wednesday: Panama City (FL)........

Boat shopping gets interesting when you can bum a ride on an airplane... However, if the premise is large and cheap you see some REALLY scary stuff . Just keep on plugging. It will all come together.

Lake boats have definite advantages....the major issue there is the cost of getting a 40+foot/20.000lb boat to salt water....
