I have a novice queston on filling tank. Do you need someone in cabin to monitor water level or does over flow just come out through the filler or vent ports ?
I have a 2003 Wk - when filling the tank with a hose if you listen you will hear a change in the noise when the tank fills and the water starts backing up the filler tube.Stop at this point. This assumes all your fittings are tight and don't leak. If you keep going it fill overflow out the filler tube.

Which won't hurt a thing, you can rinse out the anchor locker while you're doing this anyways....
One thing, untill a recent change in the manufacturing process, the screws that hold the snaps for the pouch in the v-berth can protrude through the fiberglas and puncture the filler hose......you can see if it did. Then, completely filling the filler hose will cause the water above the puncture to end up in the bilge......so, if there's water in the bilge after you fill up, start there.
