I have just signed a contract to purchase hull #643, a new 2002 water ballast , never titled, never in water. After my concerns about towing and such, it was the price that made the over all decision to purchase this boat. A Nisson 4-stroke is on order and will be in around mid-May. This boat has wheel steering, trailer and a list of odds and ends. The dealer was nice (desperate) enough to take my old Columbia in trade;another deal maker. The boat (unnamed for now) will be in a slip at Lake Lanier, Georgia with small weekend trips to the Gulf coast and Charleston S.C.and the first extended trip planned for Key West in the fall. It may take me a while to get the feel of sailing a water ballast after years of sailing a heavy displacement keel boat; but I can't wait to get started. Thanks to all for the help and I am sure I am going to need a lot more. As I name the boat and take possession I will let you all know. Thanks again.
Welcome to the family! I think (not certain) that our boats shared trucks from the factory. I've got hull #642 which I took delivery of right from the factory in April of 2002. They dropped mine off in Austin and said the other was bound for the east coast. You'll love your new baby!
I've been "doing" it for a year. As far as sailing, think Laser......tiller in one hand, sheet in the other. She's tender, for sure. Reef early. She is honest though, and you will learn to trust her. Find the money to order a beaching rudder, even if you have to forego getting a warrantee on it. The rudder that comes with the boat is too small, and the bigger one (comes with the WK) would stick out below the CB in a retracted position. Also you couldn't hang it before launching.
The first time around rigging/de-rigging is going to be a lot of work. Focus on creating a routine that minimizes wasted movement. Buy a pile of snap shackles on e-bay, and have a place for everything, and everything in it's place. I got launching down from three hours to half that, flags up, cushions in the cockpit, suntan lotion applied.
If you are interested I can type out the play by play......freel free to ask questions.
Welcome to the crew.....!

Whoa...competition, , time trials, singles or teams, mandatory minimum equipment list, extra points for spreader flags, life rings , music, suntan lotion.....
My "syndicate" will be seeking sponsorship.....hmmm, how about Ratheon..... or Tic-Tac

Ed, I bought the used 250 WB sitting almost next to your new boat. I am also waiting on a Nissan to get in so I can sail. I've been fixing all the small stuff that usually has to be fixed on a 10 year old boat and am chomping at the bit to go sailing. I've got hull 120. Hope to see you at the lake or Amelia Island. That's where I am really looking forward to going this summer. John Hutto
Hi John. I guess we are waiting for the same shipment. I am told it cleared customs on Friday with expected arrival by the end of the month. Are you going to keep your boat at the lake; dry sail or in a slip?
