Has anyone changed or enhanced their aft berth mattress?

We purchsed some egg-crate and placed it on top of the exsisting cushions and then placed the sheets over the top of both of them.

It makes overnighting for the weekend a little more comfortable.

We recently chartered a Catalina 320 in San Diego for a few days, and the cushions in the aft berth were no better than what they put in the 250. So go figure, the 320 is 3-4 times the cost of the 250 and still not a comfortable berth.

I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and bought some of that egg crate foam padding...that made it much better but not perfect, I than put a sheet of plain 1" foam under the egg crate and now it is perfect..we both sleep all night with no complaints...

Did you put the egg crate and foam under the existing cushion or on top of it?

Thanks
