I have an 82' sksr, with no coaming compartments in the cockpit. I would like to correct this shortfall and cut out the openings, my question is has anyone done this? If so where did you get the inserts or did you go with aftermarket compartments? Catalina Direct has the Trim rings but that is it. Any Ideas, or is this something that I shouldn't bother attempting?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that the pocket is glassed in behind the cut-out, so if you don't have the opening, then most likely the pocket is not there either. A quick look behind the seat back in the dumpster (port storage locker) will tell. You'll likely have to go with an aftermarket insert. One of our previous members made a 2-shelf unit that fit under the tiller to provide extra storage space.
I've installed the ones suggested by Alex. Buying them from Defender instead of the manufacturer will save $25 each. Search their site for "coaming box". Simple to install with a drill/driver, jigsaw and screws and sealant. A great addition to the cockpit and I used one for a hide-away installation of the auto-tiller plug-in. Good luck.
