I think I have 5/16" in the furler drum right now.....and will change to Sta-Set 1/4". What sze line do you have in your furler, and what brand furler?
The reason for change is the last two rotations sometimes jam because the drum is completely full. Furled in, I have enough turns to wrap the sail 4 turns with the genoa sheets unless I was sailing under strong winds at which time the sail is tightly wound around the aluminum extrusion.
THANKS.

I am looking at it right now. It appears to be 1/4". There is plenty of room on the furling drum when my 150 Genoa is unfurled. Light winds when I came back in but even so, with the Genoa furled, the sheets have 6 wraps around the sail. Heading home now.
Yup--5/16ths is too big for most furlers on 25' boats--it's more appropriate for halyards that need a "big pull" that is harder on the hands. The ideal size for the furler will vary based on the size of your genny (bigger needs more turns), and your particular furler drum, but 1/4" will take something like 20% less space on the drum.
