in the process of upgrading my mast i'm hesitating between a separate VHF antenna and windvane or the antenna/windvane combo like the one on CD...

i still have the horizontal extension that was holding the old windvane further back towards the stern, i could make an adapter to fix the antenna there or put it more forward on the side of the mast with the included bracket and use a regular 15" Windex windvane

any pros or cons?

Hi Richard,

I'm on my third boat that is large enough to justify a Windex and antenna. I use a Metz antenna mounted to the side of the mast and a Windex mounted on an extension to the rear - fastened to the masthead. If I am silly enough to buy another boat some day - I will use the same products.

I've never been a fan of <i>combo</i> products. If one part breaks - you have to deal with both.
