Sorry, coming off a small 19 foot west wight potter and haven't used or seen this before. Below is a pic of my furled headsail. Those flaps are mating male/female velcro. I don't know what it's for, but it's part of teh UV protection strip. Also, what is that plastic looking strap? Thanks!

I'm going to guess: Leech line pocket to prevent incidental pulling on the leach line

That's as good a guess as any, I don't have one of those and didn't have it on the original sail.

Occasionally, the leech of a jib will begin to flautter rapidly, and, when it does, you can usually stop it by adjusting the leech line. You trim the leech line in just until the leech stops fluttering, and no more. If you trim it in too much, it will create a cupping in the leech of the sail, which will prevent the air from flowing smoothly off the surface of the sail.

Ahhh. . .. there must be a cleat on the other side. . . I find no leach line - maybe it's snuck up in there. Thanks very much for your responses!
