A stone cold beotch it would have been. 15 mile sail to the North, winds North at 20kts, 4-6 feet....Incidentally the SCA was for "sea" conditions not winds. Did I mention temps in the high 40's Memorial Day Friday...sigh.
Oh well, a bit of patience may have paid off, south winds at 10-15 tomorrow :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence there John :)
I learned the hard way, once, that a lingering SCA recovering from seas in excess of 10' on LM ain't fun. Waves breaking down near Calumet can down be down right dangerous.
Yup--I knew her well... The E-W fetch on Michigan is 80-90 miles, and in Chicago from the north it's 300. In a big northerly, within about a mile of shore, the seas are curling toward the beach and shortening up--I've seen 8-10' breaking seas going over breakwaters and jetties, and across Chicago's Lake Shore Drive. There are 30+ mile stretches of straight-as-a-string beach and dune, with no place to hide. This is not "lake sailing" and it's not quite like the ocean--it can be a monster of its own species--like this, or this.
