That hit me in the gut--hard. That was my wonderful wife. "Skin cancer"... By the time we caught it, it had metastasized into her liver, and two months later, she was gone--at 57.
Sorry to hear that Dave. I had a scare last month, I had a mole become tender, so i went in and the doctor shrugged that one off, but while looking me over found 2 "suspect" ones that had him and the specialist he sent me to really concerned.After the surgery and lab work it luckily all came back ok. They have now put me on a watch program which involved taking a digital scan of my skin that a computer can point out any differences for future scans.
I've had basal cell carcinoma on my temple which is nowhere near as aggressive as melanoma, but potentially serious. I found a great Doc in New Haven who "cured" me completely. For the past 15 years, I've seen my dermatoligist for a full-body check once or twice a year. I've had several suspicious moles removed.
