I am trying to help a person on here by sending them a Bow Pulpit that I have in my garage. The issue is I can't find a way to ship it for under $150. Anyone have an idea of how to send it? I am shipping it from Ohio to Wisconsin.
Dito on Greyhound. I had a stern rail for a C22 shipped from San Francisco to White Plains, NY a few years back fo 50 dollars. The only catch is that you have to pick it up at the Greyhound station but that's a minor inconvenience given the savings.
Dito on Greyhound. I asked the fella that shipped mine to brace the legs. He wrapped it in plastic and then braced the legs with a piece of wood and duct tape. Cost $40.00 to ship it from Las Vegas to Michigan. It did get lost in Chicago for a few days. I had get on the phone and ask a ton of questions until someone said, Oh here it is. Someone set it down with the label down so they didn't know what it was. I asked the girl at the Greyhound terminal how many packages they loose and she said, "I've never heard of them loosing a package until now. We just don't loose stuf."
When I bought my stern pulpit from a fellow forum-ite, he lives in way-the-heck PA and I in CT. I was all set to use Greyhound, but we couldn't get the logistics right (there was no convenient station in his neck of the woods).
What finally happened was we both drove to East Nosepick PA, which was somewhere in-between. Worked out great, and I had an opportunity to stop by and visit my Uncle in Philly.
My druthers were to use Greyhound, but in this case, it was not to be. For many people, taking the bus is the best way to ship bulky items
If you post semi-regularly on the Trailer-sailor's board you will see that they often drag each other's bits and pieces across the country. You might want to see if it can hitch a ride with someone.
