I need to get out of this lake! Well, just for some vacation fun in the coast on spring break. So, I bought a trailer for $1200. It's galvanized, tandem axle, 3"x5" tubing, wobble rollers, and has 4 brand new tires with warranty. The PO used it to tow his Sundancer 250 which weighs about 6800lbs. I thought I got a good deal on it. I'm going to have to raise the rollers a bit, and create a keel platform, so I was wondering if anyone knows the exact width of the wing keel? Not only will I build a support, but I'd like to make vertical guides for it to fit nice and snug.
Scroll about 2/3 of the way down the page. There's a picture of the wing with a tape measure. Looks like it's about 28" wide. The base of the tape measure is 3 inches wide.
I did see that thread after extensive search, but wasn't absolutely sure that was the measurment he was taking since the other end was cut off. I thought maybe the measurement would be known by a few people. I suppose I could make it adjustable and use that measurement as a baseline. Or block it up with wood if it's too wide. I just didn't think it would be that wide. Thanks for the help! ;)

You didn't get a good deal...You stole it! <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> Haha, I was wondering if I did. I looked up the price of the tires, and then rollers, and thought that was enough to justify it. Hopefully I can do a good job of building the keel support.

My boat sits in my shop next to the house.
Ted <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> The wing itself would be great. I'd like to get it as snug as possible, so an exact measurement of its width would be VERY appreciated! Thanks.

Ted <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"> Yes it does. I feel much better about it verifying the measurement image. Thanks!
I'll probably put the planks at 28" and then add carpet to fill in a little gap for about 1/2" of play.

I'd like to change out all the rusted U-bolts for stainless ones. It doesn't look like they make them that long in stock, so I'll probably have some custom ones done. They run about $15 each, but I don't need that many. Then an LED light kit for $50.
Thanks. I saw their website after doing an extensive google search, but no one makes a long enough U-bolt for the two studs to join. If it's 3x5, then I'll need at least a 10.5" long u-bolt, which I can't find in galvanized or stainless. A few companies custom build them, so I may go that route if it isn't too expensive.
I have another question for you guys. In the factory cradle dimensions, it mentions that the supports must be 4'0" and 5'6" wide. But in the trailer thread with pics, it looks like the bunks are maybe 3'6" apart. http://www.catalina-capri-25s.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18647&whichpage=2&SearchTerms=trailer Is it ok for me to place them at 3'6" apart, or should I go wider? <b>I'm thinking of going 3'9" center to center of supports.</b> And of course using the wide wobble rollers shown in my first post.
As far as the U-Bolt search, How about a truck parts store, They use large/long U-Bolts over the leaf springs. Won't be galvanized but its another shot.
Well, I just spent $109 on stainless cotter pins, washers, and a few bolts/nuts. And that's all just for the roller assembly's. Haven't even gotten to the actual trailer parts. I didn't realize how many rollers there actually were. (64)
Still need the u-bolts. Next week I'm going to call around for custom u-bolts.
