Indiscipline is signed up for the Border Run, and new race put on by XS Racing as an alternative to the Newport - Ensenada.

http://www.theborderrun.org/

We are in double handed, PHRF, on the short course. A member who has always dreamed of ocean sailing is crewing with me (Scumbucket).

If we can get 2 boats they will give a match race trophy.

If we can get 3 they will give the Catalina 25/250s a Fleet trophy.

Come on, I challenge you. Beat me and Scumbucket on the short course. You don't need to be a member of PHRF or a yacht club.

I will help arrange any details if you trailer here for the race.

Details

I had a long talk on the phone with the organizers last night. I liked everything they were saying. All boats are welcome from 4kt leadmines to sportboats. They want to get boats out who would otherwise be giving NOSA a pass this year. I have no problem with that. Yes they are a for-profit web site and sailing club much like SA. I have no problem with that. In fact, almost anything goes with these guys as long as you are racing. I like that. Not in PHRF and want to race? They have no problem, XS Racing will issue you a cert for 0$. No yacht club membership? No problem.

I signed up. I did not pay yet. If it unravels, nothing lost.

It is what it is. They take your $100 and put on a race. Some boats get a trophy. Some get prizes. Most get wet, cold, and tired.

All the officers talked tonight about our Association sanctioning this race as a regional regatta. We may give a International Association prize, or points towards an annual championship. We need more regional regattas. If we got more Catalina 25/250s or Capri 25s out it would only be good for our Association.

Come on, only two more boats needed.

If we are pushing this as a regional, I suggest we endorse others as well. Lake Ontario has the LOSH series as well as the Lake Ontario 300 (?? not sure on th ename) I would Enter Iris in either of those with th eright encouragement and some fair competition.

Great! Lets get some momentum going on officially sanctioned events.

A Tee Shirt for every C25, 250 or Capri 25 member boat that enters!

Love the idea of sanctioned, regional races -- far superior to a National where transporting a boat is such a hassle!
