Our local club had a small regetta on the 1st with our small Lido 14 fleet. We have 3 boats that are working now for our 2 year old junior program. We ran 3 peliminary races with one person per boat per race, except the juniors that had three kids in the one boat. The winners of the three raced off for 1st 2nd and 3rd. I wasn't in it but my two boys were in the jr boat. they are 9 and 12, there buddy is 15. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2973538180052863303tajRjr edited to add a link to the photos of the sailing. Photos were taken by a friend. My elder, Casey has on the red swetter, his younger brother is the small one, Tommy is at the helm, I was helping with the start. There was pretty much no wind. The boats did a dock start in water too shallow to have the rudder attatched. The photos were taken from the docks where the summer water height is.
for the race we had a mark about 400 - 500 feet out, then two bouys about 100 feet appart close to the docks making an inverted T. The far mark was to starboard, then just through the other two. the first race took about 50 mintes, the second (with my boys) was a bit faster for the first two boats. Casey and Everett were just behind the first place boat. the thrid place boat came in about 45 min after them. The third race we had a little more wind HA HA. One of our very seasoned racers swamped his boat and had to be towed in. He was riding it right on the edge.
