Hello Everyone,

Our new boat has a Seaward butane stove; the model number is 1203-06, and I believe it has the word "Princess" on the top.

Where's the best place to buy butane cartridges for this stove? (WM is about 60 miles from my house, Camping World is about 120 miles, REI is about 60 miles, Target/Wal-Mart/Home Depot are about 15 miles.)

What's a good price?

About how long do the butane cartridges last? (How many meals can be prepared typically?)

As always, THANKS!

Martin

Martin, we keep at leat 4 cartridges onboard and typically use a second cartridge on a 4 day weekend. We're pretty frugal users though.
A typical weekend is Friday(dinner),Saterday(B'fast,Dinner),Sunday(B'fast,Dinner),Monday(B'fast,Dinner) & Tuesday(B'fast). We normally have sandwiches for lunch and snacks between meals.

I buy them from Walmart, price varies, but typically they're around $3.00(ish) I'm due to buy some more this week so I'll post the price then.

BTW, most of our dinners on board are boil in the bag. I either buy them (Bertolli, etc) or Seal a Meal, little to no clean up, quick and easy and suprisingly good fare. B'fast is full blown.. eggs, bacon, tomatoes, toast, coffee, OJ, cheese, spread & preserve. Deserts are normally canned fruit or chocolate. We tried key lime pie, but the cooler didn't like it and it threw up!

I still have the curtain burner on my boat, I'm wondering if folks are replacing theirs with the Seward butane model? Are there other options that are also good?

One other question: Is butane lighter than air? I ask because it recommended to never use propane on a boat because it is heavier than air and can settle in your bilge and explode if sparked.
