I was in San Diego this past weekend and bought a Hobie Adventure Island http://www.hobiecat.com/adventure-island/models_adventure_island.html I love this little sailing kayak. Had a blast on it at mission bay and here at Lake Meade. The great thing about it is that it got my kids sailing. They like the Catalina 250 but the 11 year old does not like the heeling. The older kids are not interested in driving the boat or sailing. But put them on the AI and they had a great time sailing. The nice thing is that they were understanding the wind direction and how it affects the sail. When it came time to tack they just turned the kayak and peddled through the turn with out any worries about the sail. It is really stable and will not flip on the kids. It also towed just fine behind the boat and I am looking to many hours of enjoyment. Let me know what you all think.
Sean It comes apart. The ama's come off and the outriggers come out with a just the pull of a pin. You pull the release pin and the mast comes out. I am able to keep the drive system, dagger boart, mast, ama's and out riggers in the boat and the kayak is now on styrofoam blocks (dry dock) next to the boat. I had a good time on it his weekend. Tows nice behind the boat either just the kayak or assembled.
