I'm new to the forum, but interested in the 250WK. I saw this ad on YachtWorld:

Roomy and fun, this spacious trailerable will cruise for a long weekend, then fit in the driveway when you're done.
COMING SOON: Updated 2008 model! Price is for Base Boat Only, not including options, trailer and delivery.

Anyone know what the updates are for the 2008? Just curious...

Thanks,
Ben Walker

Ben,
I don't know the changes for the 2008 model.
The Catalina Yachts website has a Dealer Locator feature.
Your dealer would know the changes and they might know about used boats.
My dealer had a dry storage lot and sold used Catalina's on consignment.

I sent Catalina an e-mail asking them about the changes on the 2008 model. Until I hear back or IF I hear back I have another idea.

We need to talk Ben into buying it and then he can tell us.

Welcome aboard Ben!

Yeah, that's one idea, Tom.

I actually got an email from the broker who had that listing on YachtWorld. In case anyone is interested...

Hi Ben,
As far as the new upgrades, I know that it will have opening windows that the 2007 didn't have. We are expecting this boat by middle of next week. I will be able to fill you in on any other upgrades.
Thank you,

Ben, there are several of us that utilize the boat for 'long weekends'. We have the WB model, it is certainly smaller internally compared to the wing keel, but we typically take JD out for 4 or 5 days a month. If we had the boat in a slip then we would probably get more day sailing (step on carrying cold stuff, cast off) but the time taken to prep the boat for a trailer trip/launch/sail/retrieve/trip home impacts the pleasure of a day sail at present. So it's long weekends every trip. In fact I hope that later this year, certainly by the first part of next year, that we will be able to take at least a 10 day trip down in the keys.

I visited Toms boat when we went on the BEER cruise back in early June, the interior is substantially larger due to the higher roof and no WB tank, it seems palatial compared to the WB, but then we can get into places with much skinnier water than the WK.

I saw the 2007 model at the Miami boat show this year, the changes were minor, pleasant but minor. I spoke to the designer about the table - bar far the greatest obstacle to comfort in the cabin, and he stated that they might be moving towards a design similar to the C309. Personally, it's not the material the table is made of, it's the design, and comfort in the cabin is paramount when you use the boat for longer trips. (if you look at the boat that has trailed from Canada down to Florida and back you'll see how they changed the table.)

If you have been scanning the posts here, you'll know that there are keen supporters of each of the models. The choice really comes down to where you will most likely be sailing. 95% of our sailing is in the skinny waters of south east Florida & the keys.

I totally agree with the remark by the dealer 'sail it .. put it in the driveway' that's exactly what we do, saves a huge amount of time in working on the boat.

Welcome to the forum, hope you do go buy the boat and to see you down our way sometime. The BEER cruise taught us how much fun it can be to sail with other boats. This is a great group of people.

Paul
