Hi,

Does anyone have the measurements for the bunk placement and keel guide for their WK trailer ? I am considering having an existing trailer modified (since 2nd hand trailers are tough to get and new ones are very pricey)

Anyone who has an empty trailer in their yard or easily accessible - I would be greatly obliged if you would make a few quick measurements and/or take some photos with a measuring stick in the photo

Thanks,

Simon

Hey Simon,

We launched "Blue Heron" (our '03 250WK #676) this last Saturday and brought the trailer home empty last night. I would be happy to take any and all measurements you need. Also digital pic's. Our's is a Performance trailer. Don't know if that matters. It has 2 (two) long bunks. 1 (one) on each side. It will take me a couple of days to get to it. I hope thats ok. Let me know if you would like me to send things to your eMail or just put it on the forum.

Jim,
Thanks for the quick reply. If you were able to post a picture from all sides and above (as far as possible). The critical measurements I believe will be the height and width and placement of the keel support on the trailer (how far from the winch etc)
WRT emailing or putting it on the forum - whatever is easier. I suspect there may be others who would value this info but if you would rather send it by email to me, I can take care of posting it
Thanks very much for your help

Simon,

We went to the boat last weekend and have had a pretty crazy week so far. Also busy tonite. I will try to take some measurements tomorrow night and post them on the furum. As far as pictures go I thought it would work best if I sent them to you on a CD.

Jim

Are the pictures that large? I would like to see a 'few' of them myself. I still have not gotten my trailer adjusted properly. (My wing Keel was damaged upon deliver and I am very cautious)

Thanks,

Don

Not sure as I never heard back from Jim. Anybody else out there got a WK trailer nearby and a digital camera they could take some photos of the bunk positioning and the keel box ?

thanks.

Simon,

These measurements are from my custom built Trail Rite C250 WK trailer. The size of the keel support bunk is 60"X23". The top of the bunk is 17.75" above ground level with the trailer unloaded. The distance from the leading edge of the bunk to the trailing endge of the mast raising support is 82". The distance from the ground to the base of the winch, is mounted on the mast raising support, is 112". I can send photos to your email.

I haven't figured out how to post photos on the forum yet. I could go sailing this morning, or I could take the time to firgure out how to post images.

Think I'll go sailing.

Simon, I will post a photo of my trailer tomorrow. Then send me an e-mail and I'll send you my cell # and we can talk through various measurements.

Mike - thanks very much for the info. If you could email the pictures to me at simon@hayeshome.com, that would be great. I can then also post them here

Randy - thanks for your help, I will look for the photos and we can take it from there.

Here are photos of my trailer. Send me an e-mail and I’ll send you my cell# and we can measure away. As you can see I am in a trailer upgrade project.

Mike's trailer looks brand new. I don't think I'd even want to get that pretty thing wet!

Could you measure the distance from the keel support bunk to the keel guide; both the top and bottom of the keel guide board? Also how about the width of the keel guides (between guides)? I have had problem attempting to get that adjustment correct resulting in the boat hanging up on the keel guide. My guides as delivered were so long that I have to 'cut' (pain!) 6 inches off and think I may need to cut again.

Thanks,

Don

My boat is an '99 but my trailer was new in '06. I did not include pictures, it is the same as Mike's pictured above. I think Trail Rite got the new trailer right. It works very well with the 250.

I will be out of town for two weeks but can help with measurements if you still need them then...

Hey Simon,

Having the trailer at home didn't make it as easy as i thought it would to get you what you were asking for. I've been at the boat. We have too short a season not to go there when I can.
Here are some measurements.
(I used the back of the winch stanchion as a reference point for measurements taken front to back. This point is 16" in front of the forward most point of the bow, on the hull. That is under the deck.)
Measurements are as follows;
Back of Stanchion - Center of Front Pad Post = 42 1/2"
Back of Stanchion - Front of Bunks = 100"
Length of Bunks = 13'
Distance Between Bunks (Front) = 41"
Distance Between Bunks (Back) = 42"
The Keel rests on it's padded board directly over the heavy trailer cross member.

What about the height of the keel guide above the keel support? I am having problems getting mine to the proper height and am concerned about the boat resting on the keel guide rather than the intended supports.

Thanks for the info,

Don

We had “Ariel” hoisted out of the water and placed on the trailer at a shipyard in San Diego. The person in charge of the lift operation told us that about 70% of the boat’s weight would rest on the keel support and the rest on the side bunks. “Ariel” was lowered onto the trailer and was still partially supported by the slings when the side bunks were individually fitted to the curve of the hull. After the bunks were sized properly and made fast, “Ariel” was finally lowered completely on the trailer. During the 360-mile trip home, she never shifted on the trailer. Launching her at the boat ramp was a breeze and I was able to pull her off the trailer using only a docking line while standing on the launch ramp pier.
