I have an 88 TR. My original two-line reefing system had an 11 foot line to reef the clew end and a 9 foot line to reef the luff end. Line diameter was 1/4 inch. This info came from the owners manual.
How are you rigging it? One for both tack and clew or one for each. For a single line if you figure 2 feet up from the boom, 2 back down, 9 feet across, 2 up and 2 back down you are already at 17 without a tail.
one for each. i have an 83 SR. i was mainly interested in the clew end. i was thinking about trying a reef hook for the tack. i actually found the diagram for how the line should run on one of the threads from a previous post. 11 ft sounds about right. thanks aeckhart.
