Last weekend I participated in the Indianapolis Mayors Cup held by The Eagle Creek YC As the only Catalina 25 in the JAM White Fleet with 2 other Jam Class boats we were asigned to the same start sequence with the Red Fleet Spinaker fleet which included J-24's S2's 7.9 and couple of other faster boats. Because we started together the committee boat thought they would be waiting 25-40 min for us to get finished. They were so surprised when the white fleet a C-22 (sport) C-25 SR and a Capri 22 TR beat at least 4 boats in the red fleet. Not just one race but at least 4 of the 6 held this weekend. In fact a red fleet boat did win the Mayors cup with 9 points, but the white fleet boats finished next with C-22 9.5 points Capri 22 13 points and C-25 with 13.5 points out of the 28 boats that raced, not bad for the catalina continjent EHHHHH!!!

Bill,

Not bad at all. I have convinced myself over the years, racing in our club fleet, that if sailed it's potential, the C25 can do very well against supposedly faster boats. I have beaten (handicap corrected of course)a Santa Cruz 27, a Santa Cruz 40, a Beneteau 35, Sidelman 25, Tartan Piper 28, Laser 28, and others, since I began racing 18 years ago. The rub of course is sailing to your boats potenial. Not always possible for a huge number of reasons.

Good luck in the Nationals. Wish I could be there.
