As far as I know, all of the cup events are open to anyone with a valid PHRF certificate and can meet the safety requirements.

http://www.ssyc.org/queenscup/default.asp

The Tripp Memorial is the eastward bound race 2 days before the queens cup and starts in Muskegon. 68 NM

The Clipper Cup is from Muskegon to Port Washington, WI. 68 NM

The Anchorage Cup is a race from Grand Haven, MI to Holland, MI. 17 NM

The Commodore's cup is a 3 day bouy race.

Come on up.

Is your PHRF requried to be a local PHRF or from anywhere? I've seen where you can race with your certificate, but your number is adjusted for the local rating for that regatta only (most common) Also cases where you have to have a local PHRF cert and pay the local fee (KWRW, etc) and others where any boat can race, you are just at the mercy of the organizing authority to assign you a rating that is not protestable.

Duane, I am in the process of filing for my PHRF certificate through your guy in Cleveland. Do you still have the class certificate from last year that I can submit with my money and application?

Wow Duane is already the winner! I estimate 45 days on the boat so far not including any 'fun' sailing between racing days. Duane, is your boat at a slip or do you have to launch for most of those events?

The boat is in a slip - If I had to launch it every time I had to go sailing I wouldn't be sailing. With the exception of the J-22 sailing everything else is in a slip for the season. Most of those larger events aren't on my boat either.

2007 Racing program:

June through September:
Wednesday evenings- CYC GO Fleet-Cat25 family crew
Thursday evenings- CYC Sunfish -family on own boats (club boats)
Friday evenings- GO Fleet on Cat 30 at RYC (crew on occaision)
Sunday afternoons- Club racing

Others:
Holiday Handicaps at CYC
Memorial Day
July 4
Ring of Fire (Saturday before Labor Day)
Labor Day

June 28- July 1 Catalina 25 Nationals crewing on At Last

July 14: Hospeace Regatta at CYC

October 7: Around the Lake Race (approx. 32 miles RT)

That would be about 48 days plus the Nationals but I have to subtract conflicts due to soccer and baseball. I am coaching my son's Pony League (14-17)team so that will cost a few Wednesdays unfortunately.

We figure racing not only improves skills but forces us to get out and sail on days that you might not otherwise go. We have a great bunch of other sailors as well so it is fun at the bar or on the water front.

Looking forward to a good season.
