Dave Bristle,

Bit late with the reply, but the moulded in wires for the masthead lighting are directly above the port bulkhead on our '84. You can confirm this by tracing your wires forward from the switch panel. This is the bulkhead aft of the head that is adjacent to the compression post. It would be impossible to mount a vent in a manner to cut the wires, unless you miss-measure. But then you've got a bigger problem when you hit the bulkhead!
