I have one. Since I have not put the boat on the water yet I can't tell how good it works but I asked the former owner and he said it was great. I have the manual at home, so I will check and let you know what I have (if interested).
I have used "the boomkicker (rods)" on the S2 9.1 and worked good since it eliminated the need for a topping lift, which is nice. You still use the regular vang for adjustment. The thing is that the rods hold the boom up which is really nice in light air to keep the boom steady, it also makes main sail adjustments easier for light air. I would assume you will get the same benefit from the rigid boom vang. I sure was glad my boat came with it!
