None of my mast lights are working. I unplugged the lights at the deck and found that I was not receiving current. I removed the base plate to find two broken wires. I could not pull the wires to get a good connection. I added a piece at the salon so that I'd have some slack. I still could not pull it. What is holding it so that it cannot be pulled?

Do I need to run a new line from the salon to the base of the mast?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dick -

do a search using "deck connector" in the 25 Specific forum and there's plenty of helpful info that has been posted regarding the short mast wiring at the deck connector and suggestions for proper re-wiring.

I think the first change I made to my 87 was a new deck connector. I was fortunate to have enough (but just enough) wiring sticking through the cabintop to get a good connection.

Good luck.

On my boat the wires were glassed in and I couldn't budge them. I drilled out the original connector and ran new wires to it.
