If my Admiral were on this site, she would probably point out that I spent a considerable amount of time justifying the purchase of a brand new MacGregor M, shortly before I bought my C25.

The micro-Greek-magnate-liner! There's one moored on the Mystic River, surrounded by Cats, Bennes, Packets, Cape Dories, Sabres, New York 30s, classic ketches,... by far the strangest and most out-of-place vessel in the area. I chuckle every time I see it! You made the right choice, Mike!
Indeed you made the right choice! There are a few of them on our reservoir too. I had a landlubber buddy who was contemplating the purchase of a Mac until he held a light up next to the hull and could see the glow through the hull. Are they a funky sailboat or a dog of a powerboat? It seems to me that they are a little of both and a lot of neither! But as we always say... different strokes....
I climbed on one at Strictly Sail a couple years ago (on a step ladder) and made sure nobody saw me when I climbed off. When we blow past a Macgregor on the lake, we just display a Catalina smile!
only here can an absolutely idiotic post posted by someone with poor language and typing schools, at best, turn into a congratulatory "you bought the right boat speech.!!!
My wife and I are very new to sailing. We got our certifications last September and have been looking for a sailboat since then. A little over a month ago we bought our C-25 from JB Manley and really love the boat. During my year long search for a sailboat, I noticed that the most common ones for sale was the McGregor 26x. I took that as a sign and avoided them. So our first sailboat is the C-25
Back in 1989 when I was boat shopping in Ft. Lauderdale, I looked at everything that could be trailered. During a visit to a Mac, the late afternoon sun was shining against the hull and I could actually see the waterline through the hull. That's the last Mac I ever set foot on. I view the modern version as being neither a proper sailboat nor a proper power boat. It looks like it was designed by a committee. I'm very happy with my C25.
