Do the rest of you have a single large hole near your keel bolts? The hole looks like something the manufacturer put there. I emailed them asking what it is for, but no response. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look in the photos section of this club in the Swimmer folder and the picture Keel hole. I'm surmising it's an inspection hole, but for what? The keel stub?

On my Capri 25, All of the keel bolts have been replaced and are in different locations than Catalina placed them. All of the original holes have been epoxied up and glassed over. It was done 5 years ago by Tulsa sail craft. The inside was totaly redone. The bulkheads were replaced and painted, The bottom wood partitions in the storage lockers were replaced, and the hull was lined with a tan vinyl. It looks very nice. I have a hole in the back of the keel sump that allows water from the floor to pour into the area under the floor. Its pretty handy because I can tell if the boat is holding any water. I just plug the Dewalt wet and dry vacume in the hole and suck the water out.
Any progress with the windows yet? I noticed that the tiller post cap on my boat has a stress crack on the bottom where the rudder shaft and tiller connect. I have to replace this do to the fact I dont want to replace my rudder, because it sank into davy jones locker.

I haven't done anything with the portlights yet due to the temperatures here. Nothing is going to set up with it dipping down to zero or below at night. If we get a January thaw, I'll grab the opportunity to do something then. I have some of the teak and all the flooring in my shop now and plan to do some refinishing.

do you have the large section of flooring that is made out of teak an holly. can you get a large piece of paper or cardboard and trace it out for me. I dont have this part of the floor. If you dont have any cardboard or paper will you measure it off for me. I will then create a cadd file for it. chris

I also asked what the hole is for and had an "expert"?? look at it.
I was told that it was for a table which fit into it, which was an option. It made sense since it does not go all the way through and I can't think of any other reason for it.

I have a photo of a Capri 25 that was for sale on Ebay last summer. It had all of the bells and whistles installed from Catalina. Now that it has been brought to my attention, This boat had a table that was mounted on a hinge on the center post and sat down about where your hole is located. I know I have a photo somewhere, I will look tonight for it on my home PC and post it.

and if there is anyone who could measure the wood insert for me it would be great, Dont take alot of time doing this thoe. I can go up to the boat in under 30 min. And get them myself.

Thanks Joe,
I called Catalina today, but only got to leave a message. I also need the torque specifications on the keel bolts.
I don't doubt someone told you that the hole was for a table. Too bad we don't have a brochure with a picture. The location of that hole would seem to put the table in the way of coming into the cabin, but then, who knows how they may have rigged it, perhaps it was on a hinge and that is where the leg went when the table was folded down...of course I'm just guessing at this point but I believe some Catalina 25's have that arrangement.
