Like most folks out there, I am hesitant to cut holes in my boat for stereo speakers.

Has anyone tried putting box speakers in the cockpit coaming compartments?

Anyone ever install a subwoofer?

thanks

Pimp my ride, dude.. Here's a subwoofer install on a Santana 43 schooner. looks to be in the side walls of the cockpit area.

But if I were to hear a sailboat doing that "wump wump wump" at 3 in the AM, I'd be wantin' to test out my new flare gun..

KYD,

If you have a 250 you might want to consider mounting waterproof speakers UNDER the stern "admirals seats". I've seen this done on other boats. No holes in the hull except maybe the wires.

Keeps the seagulls away, too.

Sub goes in the face of the shelf at the end of the quarter berth. How are you going to feed it? In the slip someone will complain, on the water the amp will drain your batteries like a bathtub.

Best take a gander at the compass as you move speakers around. You may be amazed at the effect they have , even at a distance. I speak from (painful) personal experience, ron srsk Orion SW FL
