I am trying to remove the Whale pump at the galley sink. After a long hard fight, I was able to remove the securing nut. Now the question is what is holding it to the counter top. Is it screws or is it an adhesive. Does the top of the pump separate from the bottom or is it all one piece.
There are two screws on the top (clearly visible on mine :)) that hold it in. The barrel of the pump (from underneath)will also unscrew from the body by turning it counterclockwise.
I was finally able to get the pump out. It was only held in place by the nut under the counter and an extremely tight fit in the 2" hole. Now I have to extend the hose by about a foot so it will reach the other side of the sink. Does anyone know what you call the hose they use, where you could buy it and its inside diameter?
I went to Home Depot and for about $18 I bought a ripoff of a vice grip pliers. It has a large center grip that fits fully around the nut. It took time but it did come off.
