what is the correct height off the deck to mount a whisker pole fitting on the mast if I have a 135 genoa-and will it still work with the new '150 next year? if not-do I mount the ring fitting on an adjustable track??
and does anyone know where a replacement pole end fitting (1 7/8 in.?) might be found.
just in case the original should somehow not be securely held on by electrical tape and somehow fall off in 45 ft. of water during the last club race.
Capn - mount the mast ring so that, when the sail is fully deployed, the pole is horizontal. The same spot will probably work for the 150 if both sails are full cut. For the end fitting, try Forespar 714-858-8820 Derek

Ah!, maybe your whisker pole fitting has joined my Magma barbeque, brand new 13# Danforth Anchor (lost due to loose shackle pin), and other various items of gear mysteriously missing from my boat over the years?
Electrical tape? Come on, now! Not even a MacGregor 26X owner would use electrical tape to hold a critical piece of gear!

I just installed the track and ring kit available at Cat Direct. The track section is about four feet long and I installed the bottom end two feet above the deck. This seemed to work well with my asymetrical spinnaker and 150 genoa.
I also installed a topping lift for the pole, but did not need it.
I agree with Steve Incidentally, all my headsails from the 105 to the 155% fly perfectly well from the fixed ring, even though its position was calculated using the 155%. Derek

The electrical tape idea was a mid-downwind run attempt at a salvage fix when the plastic hook end snapped off and the screw holding it in the aluminum tube was lost.
This idea came from fellow crewdog. Owner of a Macgregor 26.
Should have realized beforehand. Capn Rick "Cavale" #2458 racing again tomorrow at Pickwick Lake, TN/MS/AL
