Do I want my local dealer to get me a set of 250 turnbuckles? These things look strange!

Also... what is this 250 mast slot for? It is very low and does not seem to be used.

What you are seeing is the cover. The cover lifts up and the turnbuckle with cotter pins is under it. I like them they work well for me. I don't know if they will work for a C25. I guess if the dealer says they are ok I would use them.

That is where the temporary baby stays for the mast raising system hooks into. If you look on the first picture you will see on the lifeline stanchion to the right of the turnbuckles you were asking about there is an attachment loop that is where the other end of the baby stay hooks to. Once the mast is up they are removed.

Bryan is right, these turn buckles work very well. They are bronze and strong. The cover slides over to protect from dirt and grime that will foul the threads on an open design as well as protect the cotter pins.

Note the open barrel which has a more open width on the facing side which allows needle nose pliers to deal with the cotter pins... the opposited side has a more constricted barrel that allows the cotter pin head to lock the barrel.

I've heard numerous complaints about locking nuts and stripped threads on traditional turnbuckles and experienced them on my C22... These are much better.

Any open-body bronze turnbuckes, covered or not, are better than closed-body stainless. Do not get the latter.

Thanks everyone. My dealer was supposed to get the pricing for me but hasn't yet. If they are in line price wise I will get them.

You can get these direct from the manufacturer for a lot less . . . Garhaurer Marine . . . and they do look very nice and work very well on the C-25.
