Looks like a small cottage cheese container...

Seriously, though, what brand instrument? The manufacturer may be able to help.

Steve, that is a Plastimo Contest compass. I bought it through my dealer, and he installed it, I believe the back housing came with the compass.

I bought one similar to that on Sailnet last year and I think I've also seen them in West Marine.

I need a similiar backing for my Standard Horizon Depth/speed meter which I mounted on the Port bulkhead and the wires are currently exposed in the head...I looked all through the west Marine catalog but could not find such thing and I just happened to notice this pic on the web and liked the solution...so I will try sailnet etc....thanks!

I purchase a flat backing cover a few months ago at SailNet.

I believe that they also have some available with more 'dish' to them.

If you give up all of the other sources noted here.....
you should be able to find something from a stereo store. Speakers usually have some sort of backing like that. Especially car speakers that are mounted on a flat surface without any 'baffle' or box area for the bass to resonate in.

Hi Steve,

I have two of those that I removed from my boat ... if one of them suits you, it's yours.

Are you coming to the party at the yacht club this Saturday night? If so, I can bring them to the party and you can take your pick.

Let me know ... 'later ... Buzz
