It's amazing to me how black the black out area was! But I have to question the picture because quite a bit of the area around Albany was up with power before 9:00 p.m. and at that time it was just getting dark. So at 11:15 p.m. I would not expect to see so much of the NE dark like that, even darker than the remote areas of the west, like black, black, black. I'm wondering if someone cut out that area?

You know, Don, I wondered about that, too. A little too geometrical in shape, as well. I received the image from one of my employees, so I'm not sure of the original source. Maybe it's really a large UFO...

Don, I think we are still on Eastern Daylight Time in New York. That picture was taken in Eastern Standard Time. I'm surprised the universal clock is not used [GMT] "Bear" still going strong on The Great Sacandaga Lake
This is an impressive but apparently bogus image circulating around the net. Check this link for the scoop: http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_blackout_photo.htm Everyone's observations were right on. I find many of the more fantastic e-mails I get are explained on the Urban Legends site. PW's right though - we are running out of places to hide. We still have those huge dark spots off the coast...
