Arlyn, where did you obtain the mast rest that fits on the pulpit when you are trailering? I understand that Catalina used to sell them but they have stopped carrying them. I have made two versions of them but I have ended up using a board and a rolled up piece of carpet a long with motorcycle tie downs because really did not work very well. Yours looks slick. Is it an after market item?
You can't tell from the photo, but the top board is a 2X4, and the bottom is a 2X2. I bought the hard rubber "cradle" at WalMart ... it is just a bow stopper for a boat trailer. I used deck screws and gorilla glue to attach the rubber piece to the 2X4. The bolts that hold it all together are 6" carriage bolts with wing nuts and washers on the bottom. I threaded a nylon tie-strap through a hole in the bottom of the rubber piece, and I tighten that around the mast so the mast doesn't move. The whole thing just slips over the front of the bow pulpit and clamps over the rail.
It works well on my C-25 ... maybe it will give you an idea that will work on your boat.
The one Buzz uses looks excellent. It could be improved slightly by routing half rounds to lock it to the pulpit... And, I would use a small ratched strap secured to the stem fitting and over the mast... there might be holes in the 2x4's for the strap.
Lady Kay has the new and improved trailer with the forward rest....but when I picked her up in February from the St. Louis Sailing Center (a Catalina Dealer), there were a couple of white plastic pulpit rests laying on the shelf in the store....they might still be there. Their number is 314-298-0411
