We had a couple of those (new) when I was a kid. What does that make me?
My favorite (a little later) was a friend's Merc 40, the hottest outboard available at the time... For reverse, the engine stopped and then (theoretically) restarted, turning in the oppositee direction. It was not wise to rely on that when approaching a dock! So it was many, many years ago that I learned from experience, "Never approach a dock any faster than you're willing to hit it!"
A friend of mine makes Windmill kits, 15' dingy racer. This is fairly new for him. My buddy got started building and racing runnabouts and hydrofoils. He has quite a few of those old motors, he has been in the business a number of years. He puts together kits for Windmills, Opties, El Torros, and still sells his powerboat kits too. I'm typing on a Nook and can't put in a link, but do a search for Darrell Sorenson and take a look at his web site.
