I have a Sunnto B-116 that had the diaphragm fail (old age). Does anyone know where I can get repair parts for it? (I need the diaphragm and the rear cover that locks in place to seal the diaphragm to the compass body)

I have not had any luck with Sunnto, and most repair shops just want the compass sent to them.

I hate to just toss it for the lack of two simple parts.... If I do however, I think I may get a Plastimo Contest, or a Mini Contest.

Thanks!

Chuck

I always liked the Contest 101

because you can read it from inside the cabin and the light gives a very nice glow in the cabin.

I too have a beautiful Suunto bulkhead-mounted compass (roughly 100 mm) that came with my Laser Performance 13' "Zuma". The compass color scheme (lime green & international orange) was a perfect match to the rest of the boat. The diaphragm hardened up over the winter and it leaked out all the oil. I would love to restore it but you just cannot obtain spare parts for the damned things. I have resisted replacing the compass with a black or white el cheapo compass from W-M.
If there were only some supplier out there with something close, I'd try to crazy-glue the diaphragm in place or something…

If I can dig it out, I'll take a photo of the diaphragm and measure the diameter. Maybe another manufacturer makes something close.
