So I'm grinding out the blisters on my 82 C-25 and have sanded all of the previous bottom paint down to the first layer of red. After I fill the blisters how much bottom paint does it normally take to cover the bottom of a C-25 at least 2 coats? 1 Gallon, 2?
Thanks.

Some mistakes are just too fun to only do once.

I generally used about 2/3 of a gallon per coat of ablative on my fin-keel hull, using a medium-low-loft roller with a little thinner added.

It can depend on the paint. I think we got closer to 2 coats out of a gallon of paint using Seahawk AF-33 on a fin keel boat.

If you are using a hard paint you may not want two coats anyway, it just promotes more build up and the lower coat isn't doing anything to prevent growth.

I used West Marine PVA Gold, I bought 2 gallons and used about 1 & 1/4 to get two good coats.

If the bottom isn't showing through this fall, I'll use the remaining paint to give it one coat next spring.

Using ablative, I found cheaper paint doesn't go as far...imagine that.
this year I am trying Aquaguard water based. It goes on great, easy to clean up, but won't know how effective it is until this summer.

...and I tried Pettit Hydrocoat for the first time. It's certainly more pleasant to work with and easy to clean up. As usual, I thinned it a little--this time with a squirt from the hose.
