My 85 TRFK needs a little TLC on chips and open screw holes. I've been researching the topic but remain confused. I found a small box of Marine Tex from the PO, also came across some two-part marine epoxy. The previous touch-up's I've noticed are kind of dull and un-sanded. Do you think this is Marine Tex? I'm guessing it's easy to sand with progressive high count wet sandpaper. I'm not looking for the perfect solution. Simple and easy to work with solid quality should work fine.

If it's white or light gray it's probably Marine Tex - which can be sanded with progressive grits and even polished with compounds. The trick might be not sanding through the surrounding gel coat.
For future reference, you can shape (uncured) Marine Tex pretty close to the desired shape and depth with wax paper.
