The bottom "boat" bracket, on the boat, for the rudder, is broke. Its L shaped, with a bushing welded on to it. the bushing fell off. Any way, I need to order another one and replace it. Once its removed, what should I put behind it, 4200, 5200, duct tape ?? OK guys, has anyone had this problem? Or should I just fix it and keep my CLUB foot off of the tiller ?? My lower one failed a year ago.
Catalina Direct sells replacement gudgeons, with an improved design that includes a nylon bushing. I replaced both of mine, and recommend you do so too.
I bedded it with butyl tape. I recommend against the cheap butyl that they sell in RV stores - I tried it and it's not nearly as good as this stuff, which I recommend you buy even if it's a few bucks extra:
