Greetings from St Helens. Guys getting ready to set out with my son on our 1st multi-day trip on the Columbia River. When sailing with your tender do you always remove the motor? If so it would seem to be a carefully thought out process to attach the motor while moored. Any advice would be great. Thanks, Craig
I like to take my motor off while towing , its a 6 hp so unless its a short tow with good weather ill take it off . the drag slows you down the heaver it is .. paddles or anything light we tie up in the dingy ..
for putting the motor back on/ or off i use the boom . i raise the boom with the topping lift so the motor could clear the cockpit . I also have a small shackel in the right place on the boom when its swung over the dingy its over the motor pretty straight . you also have to have two tie off spots /front and back on the dingy to hold it steady .
I have snap shackels on the traveler both ends , lowering the motor i keep the traveler in the normal position . for pulling the motor off i flip the traveler upside down so every pull gets held by the clam cleat . works out great i have done it by myself but its a lot easyer with two people .
