What ht. Bimini is optimal for a tall rig? By my measurement 42"would allow for boom clearance, have chance to get a 36" Ht. for a really good price........mounts are currently on the side decks. Neither the Lady of the Admiralty or I are very tall.......and we generally sit for cocktails. Am thinking I could put the mounts on take blocks to gain a little height?????

I suggest doing a search. I don't have a bimini yet, but the details have been discussed many times. If the mounts are on the deck, you could move them to the coaming. That would probably make the 36" satisfactory.
We had a C-25 tall rig, an 84 boat, and transferred our bimini from the C-22 to it. The bimini was 36" H, mounted on the deck outside the coaming, and just barely fit. Occasionally, we needed to reef the main. Your fit will depend on the actual height of the main sail itself. Actually, you may want to sail with the main reefed anyway if you want to sail with the bimini up as there will be less heeling effort.
Hey DavidP, what is the length of your bimini? I have an 85 C-25 TR and I want to add a bimini attached to the genoa tracks with the CD cars. Also, what is the width you would recommend and I have read that you have a the 36" high top.
I bought the bimini originally for our C-22, and put it back on the C-22 when I sold the C-25. The height measurement when I ordered it was 36". As I mentioned above, it fit the C-25 just barely, mounted on the side decks outside the coaming. I placed it so that when open, it would not interfere with the vang or the mainsheet. Actually, the mainsheet would slide around the rear of the bimini top, and I could stand up behind the bimini and still steer, or sit down under the bimini. With a 36" height, headroom is,of course, limited. The length is 72".
