I have been getting water in the bilge lately and in looking for the leak found the stuffing box leaking. It drips about 1 drip every two or three seconds while not running. When under way the drip increases a little. The drip is forward of the hose at a brass coupling right behind the transmission. We will pull the boat today to take home on the trailer and I will start to take apart-hopefully. I will appreciate any suggestions regarding the repair. Boat is a Catalina 25 w/Universal diesel inboard engine.

I'm not really familiar with stuffing boxes but think I remember hearing someone mention it's possible to tighten the packing gland/nut to stop minor leaks. Might be worth looking into before pulling the boat.

Howard,
As you know, most C25s have outboard engines, however a few were equipped or aftermarket with inboard diesels like yours. For that reason, except for a few members who may be knowledgeable due to their experience with other boats, you may find a better and more detailed level of discussion on other sites such as sailingtexas.com, sailboatowners or the C30 site. There's also a modest forum on LinkedIn groups for Catalina owners.

Not to dissuade you from leading discussions in this group, as we have a wide variety of experienced sailors here (fill in your own adjective-noun combinations), but you may find a much wider assortment of subject matter expert advice in other venues.
