So you're planning a trans-Atlantic passage in your C-25?

I just had that conversation with a friend on Thursday:

Gene - "I knew a guy that did a circumnavigation in a C25"

Me - "Really?"

Gene - "Yeah, he didn't make it".

Me -

Gene is the guy who got me in to sailing....he has a beautiful 2005 C36....and a very sarcastic sense of humor.....

Yup--as good a boat as the C-25 is, it's best to stay within reach of someplace to hide in case the ocean gets stirred up. My nights were in proper coves (or marinas). As discussed here many times, for a number of reasons, this is not a "blue-water boat." You don't want to be half way to Plymouth, GB, (two weeks from anywhere) in one when a North Atlantic storm comes up.

Larry, that’s exactly the idea we had in mind; really nice set-up. The LM-28 motor sailer stores the bed support behind the back of the settee and uses it to attach the cushion. Very nice built-in storage rack behind the table. I don’t know what I’m going to do to the table yet but it will be much lighter and have a more secure mounting.

Dave, that was just an observation, although if I miss P-Town or Nantucket there could be a few rocky nights till I hit Europe . Good advice though and great video.

Ya, Nantucket is doable... Across the Gulf Stream to the Caribbean islands is doable (in weather windows)... But the C-25 is NOT A PASSAGEMAKER. If you want to go across the pond (or around the marble), sell everything and buy a boat that'll get you there! This is not it--even if you've heard stories about circumnavigations on boats like the 20' Pacific Seacraft Flicka. This is not one of them.

When I see videos of the pounding boats take in trans ocean storms - I envision the entire deck popping off a C25 - taking the mast with it.

Guess I was a little to subtle. Just for the record, I don't
want to go to Europe. Just want to get the boat finished before the
end of the season so I can get it out of my driveway and onto my mooring!
