Found this one of Stephanos from last season on Facebook. Someday we should have a sticky for our random boat pics.

Great idea for a thread! I can't believe you guys have shots of your boats without any other boats in the background!

Actually, we do have an area on this bulletin board for photos - Believe it's the Gallery. Also for setting up Desktop backgrounds.

Anyone can make a boat move on a windy day. How about a drifter...

Ha, that Helicopter shot is awesome. OK, I've posted this before, but I think it's the best picture of my boat. As an aside, galleries are clunky and I don't think you can add text which is why I vote for a picture thread for the forum.

The Mystic River, Mystic Seaport (a national treasure), Mason's Island, Fisher's Island Sound, Fishers Island, and the Atlantic beyond...

(Free tours for association members!)

Sarge with a fleet of Shields classic one-design racers in the background...

Sure it could - you just have to be creative. Look at what DavyJ does! Clearly you just weren't meant to be a sailor. (ducks and runs)

Stinkpotter, I have a question regarding the Mystic River. I was stationed at Subbase New London (aka 'Rotten Groten")in the late 70's and have always loved the area. I try to get up there as often as possible, usually staying at the Whaler's Inn. Last year we took a harbor tour and I noticed a definite lack of jetskis and waverunners. Down here in S. Jersey they are everywhere. Do you have some sort of zoning up there that keep them out of the river?

Yup--it's called a no-wake zone, from the mouth of the river up to the Mystic Seaport--5 kts max (often abused). I see plenty of them inside Sandy Point off Stonington (Little Narragansett Bay)--flat water with lots of room.

Here's a beautiful vintage photo from the mid-80s. I scanned it from the original color brochure for a 1985 Catalina 25. This model probably came with the blonde on brown checked cabin cushions!
