Has anyone tried Captain Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure? I saw that Rhythm Doctor recommended it over on Sailnet (the thread can be found here, and thought I'd mention it here, too. I wonder how it would work for the deadlight or whatever that piece of plexiglass is called that's embedded in the foredeck over the v-berth. I suspect that mine is leaking (the silicone caulk all over that area makes me think that the PO's noticed the problem, too), and while I plan on rebedding mine, something like this might be handy for those who aren't as inclined to try the rebedding route.

I see that it is available from a UK supplier:
http://www.boatsnbits.co.uk/acatalog/Glues__Resins___Sealants.html

and also from West Marine:
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=44395&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=50218&subdeptNum=50219&classNum=50220

So, has anyone else used it? Any comments on its durability?

Jim,

I used this product quite a while ago. Challenge was the crack was so deep that I never really know if it worked! It is more of a liquid as opposed to a caulk.

It's been around for a long time - which may well speak to its effectiveness . . .

Thanks OJ. Since it is thin, like water, I wasn't expecting much in the way of gap-filling. But for those pesky leaks...

If it's leaking now, the moisture won't let anything stick to it. Along with the addition of silicone and the chances of anything ever sealing it is impossible.
Rebedding would be the only real solution.

I have used it for hairline leaks and it worked very well, fixed the leak and it hasn't come back in a couple of years. I applied it several times. Each time it goes down into the crack so multiple applications work well. It is not the right product for a significant crack.

I've used it successfully. When in doubt, rtfm, like the directions on the bottle. It says repeated uses may be necessary and describes what it works on.
