Maria,
I just met a girl named Maria,
And suddenly that name
Will never be the same
To me...

(Hope she doesn't ruin a nice song!)

Just be glad you're not in Vermont -- this trajectory looks very similar to Irene. fair warning -- the real direct hit will be later this month when my heavy travel schedule (read, I'm nowhere near the boat)kicks in!

Maria's weakening and expected to stay off-shore. Too bad Nate isn't heading up to TX.

You guys back there have had everything, including the kitchen sink, thrown at you. This recent weather over the entire US has been devastating and strange. But I cant compare the recent heat wave we have had in California or the hail(the size of small grapes) we just had this morning in my town of Costa Mesa, to what the rest of you have experienced. Good luck.

"...hail the size of small grapes..." When I was a kid in the Midwest, we called that "sleet." It wasn't hail until it could bust car windows.
