As is my usual routine on weekends, I cruise through CL looking for stuff I don't need. Today I noticed that there were almost half a dozen C-25's for sale in my area.
Was looking on Craig's list in CT for a 30 footer, and I too saw quite a few C-25s up for sail around CT, Long Island, MA and RI. Prices were all over the lot with older boats in excess of $9K and newer boats going for a steal around $4-5K. Didn't make much sense.
BTW: I just saw a Catalina-25 named Liberty in Milford Harbor this weekend. Saw the Cap't and Admiral from afar, but did not get a chance to chat. There's also a new Capri 25 in the harbor.
Update According to the old Owners' List: #3955 - Liberty, 1983 standard rig, fixed keel Robert E. Borden, East Haddam CT Not listed in the new Owners list.
David, sign of the times, huh! Sad to see this happen. Looks like some nice deals out there. I found same number on my local Craigslist. 1-25, 2-27's, 2-30's, 1-42 and 1 Capri 30! I also found a Catalina 25 for rent at $100/day. The owner will also charge you $10/hour if he captains. Steve A
That's pretty funny. Where do they get that malarkey?

From the yacht broker?
With over 6000 C-25's built, if the coastal and great lakes states have the majority, that's probably a couple of hundred on average for each of those states... I'd expect to see some percentage of those for sale at any given time--especially with the season winding down and winter storage bills looming. There should be some nice buys... but that "honest price" isn't one of them!
Too bad there's not a "property transfers" section of the local newspaper that reports on actual boat selling prices the same way that real estate prices are reported. I'd be surprised to see actual selling prices for 80's-era C-25s in excess of $6000. That said, now's the time to buy! I just haven't seen what I'm looking for. Perhaps I'll see something in two weeks at the Newport Boat Show.
